History

Marfil Santa Coloma is a futsal club that plays in the LNFS (Spanish National Futsal League). It was founded in 1975 as Fútbol Sala Industrias García and during the first three seasons it only participated in the Meyland championships of Barcelona. In the 1978-79 season, the club decided to take part in the Catalan Federation championships, and played in the third division. The club remained in this category until the 1985-86 season, when it became champion of Catalonia and won promotion to the first national division. The following season Industrias García won the championship again, which led the club to reach the top Division of Honour, category in which it remained until the 2004-05 campaign. The biggest success of Industrias García, now called Marfil Santa Coloma, came in the 1998-99 season, when it finished runner-up in the league, reaching the final after an epic regular season and a play-off. Since its foundation, the club has stuck to a philosophy of establishing a strong reserve of players from the youth teams. In the 2004-05 season Marfil Santa Coloma was relegated to the Silver Division (second-level league). After three years in this category and three play-offs, the team, led by Padú, succeeded and won promotion in June 2008, thus returning to the elite. In September 2012, beating European and League champion FC Barcelona 3-2 in the final, the team won its first Catalonia Cup. It was one of the most important days in the club’s history.
